This book is a visual guide for visiting Briones and admiring its art

Synopsis

An illustrated book for both adults and young people and accompanied by a multimedia CD-Rom, the book has an educational approach, depicting historical, architectural, and artistic aspects of Briones.

Highlights include the Baroque organ in the Church of Santa María - one of the best functioning organs in Europe-, the Riojan Romanist sculpture that first appeared in this village thanks to Pedro de Arbulo, the tomb and altarpiece of the Hircio brothers as well as the sculpture of the Immaculate Conception.

Palaces, the oldest noble home in La Rioja, and cellars excavated in stone for wine storage- many stories deep- are depicted in detail.

Also included is the initiative called "Jornadas Medievales", a medieval forum established in 1996. This is a historical recreation of medieval village life with a production of traditional trades, activities, and social status.
