A legend, with miniatures and stone graffiti representing the warrior Tello, Count of the Ruccones.

Synopsis

This book of children's literature recovers a traditional Riojan legend written by the Piarist José Beltrán, in Logroño, 1934. The story is set in the year 718 in the Monastery of San Millán de Suso (currently the town of San Millán de la Cogolla), an area under Muslim domain at that time.

The legend refers to the daring feats of a Castilian count named Tello, the first to undertake the Reconquista in the area of La Rioja. The book includes a study of the miniatures and graffiti that represent the warrior Tello as compiled by Teodoro Lejárraga, guardian of the Monastery of Suso.
